Can a drip tray be placed under the appliances?
In most cases an extra drip tray under the washing machine or dryer is not necessary. Every Wastoren® base cabinet comes with a special metal base plate as standard, designed to protect the cabinet against moisture.
If water should ever leak from the washing machine, it lands on the metal base plate first rather than directly on the wood of the cabinet. That helps prevent moisture damage to the cabinet and contributes to a durable, safe construction.
Standard protection: the metal base plate
Every base cabinet is supplied with a special metal base plate as standard. It protects the cabinet against moisture: leaking water runs onto the plate and does not reach the wood directly.
Is a separate drip tray always needed?
Many modern washing machines and dishwashers already have a base sensor or Aquastop system that automatically shuts off the water supply in the event of a leak. Check your machine's specifications: combined with our standard metal base plate, an external drip tray is then often unnecessary.
Made-to-measure extra floor protection
Would you like extra floor protection? Because most standard drip trays (60x60 cm or 65x65 cm) are too large for the recess, we advise a made-to-measure water-resistant MDF panel under the cabinet (WSTT185). That keeps the protection matched to the internal dimensions of the cabinet and preserves the room for the hoses behind the machine.
Going for a separate drip tray after all?
If you do choose a separate drip tray, watch out for the following:
Access to the filter – the raised edge can make it harder to open the lint filter at the front.
Preferably choose a model with a drain – that way the machine does not stand in water and you avoid damage to electronic components underneath.
